Parkway Schools

Welcome to the Parkway School District Wellness Website.  This site has been created to help provide the Parkway community with health information and resources which promote good health and well-being for our students, staff, and community.

District Wellness Policy
The Parkway School District adopted a wellness policy in August 2006.  The policy statement identifies the importance that healthy students and staff make in academic achievement and their overall educational experience in Parkway.  Click here for more information about the Parkway Wellness Policy.

School Health Teams
Each Parkway school has developed a school health team to help identify health issues specific to their school.  The school health team is responsible for developing wellness a wellness plan for their school which includes goals and action steps for achieving these goals. 

Coordinated School Health Model

The district wellness committee strongly believes that children's health status directly affects their ability to learn and achieve academically.  It is difficult for children to be successful in school if they are tired, hungry, stressed, using drugs or alcohol, or being abused.  Coordinated school health (CSH) is a way to improve children's health and remove barriers to learning through a coordinated effort between all stakeholders in the school and community.  CSH is about helping students become healthy adults by teaching them how to make healthy choices.

A Coordinated School Health Program concentrates on the well-being of K-12 students.  The program focuses not only on the collaboration of health and physical education, but includes other components needed to help schools become healthy and productive.  These other components address food service, health services, counseling, psychological and social services, staff wellness and family/community support.
