The Case of the Flying Pancakes

bus appreciation Transportation Director Will Rosa chose a fun and novel way to honor bus drivers for Bus Driver Appreciation Day recently.

He had them catch their breakfast. It wasn't the easiest task considering they had to catch flying pancakes on small plastic plates.

But they proved their reflexes are as good on the ground as they are behind the wheels of Parkway buses.

To date, there have been no reports of rogue pancakes landing on the ground.

Here's a special thanks to the bus drivers for all they do. And kudos go to the maintenance crew, too, for keeping Parkway buses so safe. In a recent annual school bus inspection,  the Parkway Transportation Department was awarded the "Certificate of Fleet Excellence" from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the "Exemplary Fleet Maintenance Award" from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for an outstanding showing.

In the first inspection, 143 buses (97 percent) passed and five were found to have small defects. The defects were repaired immediately and re-inspected.  The inspectors thoroughly examine each bus, including brakes, steering, safety equipment, emergency exits, lights, crossing control arm - in all, over 150 individual items on each bus.

This is the 21st consecutive year the Parkway fleet has scored above 90 percent.  Parkway is proud to say we have the only 100+ bus fleet in Missouri with this excellent record!
