The Skype Educator Network is provided by Skype to connect teachers with other teachers and resources through a searchable list. Teachers can create their own requests for other teachers to respond to as well.
The Skype an Author site provides a database of authors willing to Skype with classrooms. Organized alphabetically, each author provides a list of things they can talk about, appropriate age group, best times, and any other prerequisites. All authors are available for 15 minutes for free, but offer longer visits for a fee.
A course can be saved with some or all of its parts by using the course backup. Typically, the site administrator will set a schedule of automated course backups for the whole site. A teacher with editing privileges can create a backup or download an existing backup for safe keeping, or for use on another Moodle site.
How can I setup an online text assigment in MOODLE?
Scenario If a teacher would like for students to respond to questions for a book they are reading, but they do not want the students to see the posts from other students even after they have posted, what activity should they use? The idea is that students answer the questions independently and the next day the teacher opens the posts from each student for classroom discussion. The teacher may also want them to complete the questions as they read the book, so not everyone maybe working on the same questions at any given time. For example, there may be a total of 10 questions and she/he would like them to answer questions 1-4 tonight, 5-8 next week, and 9-10 during the following week.
