Purpose: The Parkway Digital Film Festival is being held for the sole purpose of highlighting and showcasing work done by Parkway students in grades K-12. Our goal is that, through the use of video, students will explore the real world applications and connections to their academic studies. We want our students to become practitioners in the real world with the knowledge and skills they acquire in school.

Theme: The theme for the 2008-2009 Parkway Digital Film Festival is Lights...Camera...Parkway! Our World Through a Digital Lens.

When: The 2008-2009 Parkway Digital Film Festival will be held on April 30, 2009 at 6:00 pm.

Where: Maryville University - The Maryville Auditorium

How: A video will be posted on Parkway Digital outlining all vital information pertaining to the film festival. We will send notice to all schools when the video is available.

Animation/Claymation - 2 minutes Clip art/drawings/projects using time lapsed photography
Documentaries - 2 minutes Primary sources/speeches/nonfiction
Public Service Announcements (PSA) - 1 minute Marketing current events awareness/commercials
Video Podcasts - 2 minutes One episode of a regularly released video podcast
Featured Films - 2 minutes Student or classroom created films

Age Groups
Elementary -- K-5
Middle -- 6-8
High -- 9-12

Important Dates
Friday, April 3, 2009 - Due date for films. Films must be submitted online with completed entry form
Thursday, April 30, 2009 - Parkway Digital Film Festival - Maryville University-The Maryville Auditorium 6:00 pm

Guidelines

  1. Films are to be created by students with or without teacher assistance.
  2. COPYRIGHT: Copyright laws must be observed. Any submissions containing copyrighted material will not be accepted for the film festival.
  3. Screening for entered films will be online prior to the festival. Films will be available online at Parkway Digital.
  4. Consent for Publication of Student Info Form 1005 for each student involved must be on file with the school The releases are required to publicly display video on the Parkway Digital web site.
  5. In order to be considered for the video podcast category, students must have at least 5 published episodes. Students may only select one episode for submission. Newscasts will be considered as video podcasts, but must adhere to the 2 minute time limit.
  6. The time limit for all films/podcasts is 2 minutes, except for the PSA category which is 1 minute.
  7. Films MUST be submitted using Parkway Digital and be tagged as "Parkway Film Festival" by using the Topic: dropdown menu.
