Dear Families,

I am thrilled to have your child in my class this year!  I am looking forward to working with you and your child as we begin a wonderful year filled with learning.

Growing up, I always desired to become a teacher.  In high school, I knew teaching was my future when I registered for a Cadet Teaching course.  For this class, I began every morning of my senior year in a kindergarten class and loved every minute!  From there, I attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated in 2008 with by bachelor’s degree in education, and in July of 2009, I completed my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  The first class I stepped into as a teacher was a sixth grade communication arts class at Southwest Middle.  From there, I went on to teach seventh grade communication arts at Southwest Middle.  This is my fifth year overall as a teacher, and I am excited to learn with your child.

I know that all students learn material in a variety of ways and at varying paces.  Because of this, my instruction is geared to the different learning styles, and I often break the students up into groups. My goal is to incorporate even more technology into my class this year so that I can do what is best for each student.  Our class Moodle will help accomplish this goal.  Another belief of mine is that students learn more when they are curious and passionate about the material.  Therefore, all students will be given timelines for assignments, but they will have a choice in some of their reading and writing assignments.  Please understand that many changes will be made to the curriculum in order to benefit the students in the best possible way.

Thank you for all of your support as I yearn to do what is best for each child.  Please contact me by email at or call me at 314-415-5330 with comments, questions, or concerns.  Parent-teacher communication is essential to your child’s success in school.  I look forward to our partnership as we work together in the best interest of your child.
