MATH CLUB (Mu Alpha Theta)

Math Club is composed of a group of people who enjoy math. Its purpose is to provide students interested in math the opportunity to compete in local, state, and national math competitions.
They compete in are the Great Plains Math League (GPML) which consists of a group of Saturday competitions in which students can qualify for the state GPML meet in April. The contest consist of 4 rounds: Sprint Round, Target Round, Team Round, and Relay Round. The Parkway South Math Team has placed 1st at 6 local GPML competitions and 4th in the state in addition to many individual awards.
The team also competes in the Excellence in Mathematics competition at Forest Park Community College on a Saturday in November and has brought back many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards from it also.
For after school competitions, the team competes in the Mandelbrot League, the Missouri Math League, the Calculus League, and the Atlantic-Pacific League. Competitions are 30 - 40 minutes long after school and take place in Mr. Degitz's room.
