Conference Period: 1st & 8th blocks
Minimum Daily Requirements:
- Notebook for notes and journaling
- Loose-leaf for Lab write-ups (labs also may be typed)

Grading Scale:
90 or above A
80-89 B
70-79 C
60-69 D
Less than 60 F
Weighted Categories:
Scores on homework, projects, labs, quizzes, and tests are recorded as percentage scores. These scores are then weighted accordingly:
End of Course Exam: 10%
Homework/Quizzes: 20%
Labs: 30%
Projects and Tests: 40%
The final grade will be determined by adding the component scores for each of the above weighted categories.
Example of Final Grade Calculation:
Student Suzy’s final percentage scores:
End of Course Exam: 89 x 20% = 8.90
Homework/Quizzes: 95 x 20% = 19.00
Labs: 87 x 30% = 26.10
Projects and Tests: 92 x 40% = 36.80
Final Grade: 90.8 A
Absences:
In the event of a single excused absence, the student is allowed 1 week to make up the missed work. Students missing an extended amount of time should receive a due date from the instructor.
Making-up Labs in the event of an absence:
Make-up labs may only be completed during their respective unit. If the next unit has already begun, it is too late to complete the missed lab and a score of ZERO will be recorded.
Late Work--Labs/Projects:
A late lab or project will be reduced by ONE letter grade (-10%)from the original score (as if the assignment had been turned in on time).
Late Work--Homework:
Late work will be accepted for 70% credit IF turned in the NEXT class period after the original due date. Late work will NOT be accepted if more than 1 class period late and a grade of zero will be recorded.
Tardies:
Students are expected to be in the door when the bell has stopped ringing. The first unexcused tardy is a warning. The second and subsequent tardies result in an after-school detention (South Planner pg. 20).
Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy:
Cell phones/iPods/MP3 players must be turned off and secured out of sight for the entire day. Staff members will confiscate cell phones and other electronic devices visible during the school day (South Planner- pg. 22).
Plagiarism/Cheating Policy:
Plagiarized/copied work will not be accepted by the instructor and a grade of ZERO will be recorded for the assignment.
Parkway’s Code of Conduct (shortened):
Students will…
- Pursue academic excellence and show respect for teaching and learning.
- Treat all members of the school community with courtesy and respect.
(South Planner – District pg. 1)
Let’s have a GREAT semester!
