River Bend School has an exceptionally positive atmosphere where students respect and support one another as they enthusiastically pursue their academic endeavors. The unique differences, talents, and capabilities of each child are recognized and developed in a challenging and caring learning environment.

River Bend's parents feel valued as partners and the staff feels a sense of involvement in all aspects with shared decision making as the vehicle. The Professional Development Team, comprised of parents, staff, principal, and community members provides input into the River Bend School Goals. The PTO financially supports enrichment opportunities including the Arts Partners Program, which infuses art into all areas of the curriculum. The River Bend PTO has many family events, which encourages all students, parents and community members to be a part of the school.

Some of these annual events include:
River Bend Fun Run, Trick or Trunk and the River Bend Family Dance. Recently, River Bend was chosen for two technology grants to promote our school as a world-class technology elementary school - The eMints Technology Project and the Best Buy Palm Pilot Project. The curriculum taught at River Bend aligns with the State of Missouri Grade Level Expectations and the Parkway Curriculum Frameworks. The instructional strategies used in our classrooms emphasize inquiry-based learning, direct instruction and cooperative learning within a democratic classroom.

Dedicated staff members, supportive parents, and our outstanding youngsters make River Bend "A Very Special Place" for children to develop good character, positive self-esteem and a love of learning.
