  1. KISS = Keep it short & simple if we really want others to understand and use the mission statement.

  2. This is too long, needs to be more concise and to the point. I feel that this will make more of an impression. "Aim"-changed to "will." May change "curious" to motivated, driven, or successful.

  3. First sentence should be more direct - cutting the 3 C's and just saying students who are fully prepared for... The characteristics of our students addressed in the bulleted list.

  5. We feel the words "worthwhile","curious", and "we aim" dilute the mission. Suggestions to strengthen this statement would be: Keep the one concise sentence found in the first draft. It seemed more powerful. Make a reference to the everchanging world.

  8. Our team of teachers were wondering the following: 1. How will we measure if students are confident and curious? 2. How will we measure "fully prepared"? 3. What does fulfilled mean? What is the definition? 4. "Worthwhile" may be different from person to person.

  9. Change "We aim to...."to "We will..." "We aim to" not only sounds colloquial, but implies that all the district has to do is try. "We will" is more positive and affirmative.

Also think the statement needs a brief nod to the larger community. Agree that students should be the focus, but without the support of the community for volunteerism, tax/bond issues, etc., the district cannot accomplish its mission for students.
