  1. Instead of "We aim to" we suggest... "We will provide a stimulating..."

  2. Instead of "We aim to" we suggest... "We will provide a stimulating..."

  3. A suggestion:

The mission of the Parkway School District is to provide a stimulating and worthwhile education that prepares students to be capable, curious and confident learners who are fully prepared for current and future educational challenges. We will provide a stimulating and worthwhile education that enables our graduates to lead fulfilling, productive and responsible lives in an ever-changing and complex world.

  4. After making a few corrections to the draft option I previously submitted (10/28) and to include the suggestion to replace aim with will, this is the next revision suggestion. I removed "high academic standards" as challenging curriculum covers this, I also replaced "fulfilling" with healthy in the last sentence. As this word encompasses the concept of fitness and healthy lifestyles, and is measurable.

Parkway School District, in partnership with family and community, will provide an educational environment that inspires learning through a challenging and engaging curriculum. We collectively strive for students to meet their intellectual, creative, technological and social potential while empowering them to lead healthy, productive, and responsible lives in our dynamic and diverse global society.

  5. Change "aim" to will We would suggest changing curious to inquiring even though we know it changes the alliteration. Our suggestion would be to have it read "...capable, confident, and inquiring learners..." since inquiring implies the student will act on his or her questions.

  6. We feel the words "aim" and "seek" do not sound like they guarantee the outcomes. We would like to see words that are more confident with success. Perhaps, "we will" instead of "aim.

  7. We believe the sentence, "We aim to provide a stimulating and worthwhile education that enables our graduates to lead fulfilling, productive, and responsible lives in an ever-changing and complex world," should read "We will provide a stimulating and meaningful education that enables our graduates to lead fulfilling, productive, and responsible lives in an ever-changing and complex world."

  8. My contribution and revision to the draft mission statement which includes a stronger correlation to the goals and includes stakeholders as part of the mission. It also integrates some of the feedback included in the meeting notes. 10/28/009

Parkway School District's in partnership with family and community aim to provide an educational environment that inspires learning through a challenging, engaging curriculum with high academic standards. We collectively strive for students to meet their intellectual, creative, technological and social potential while empowering them to lead fulfilling, productive, and responsible lives in our dynamic and diverse global society.

  9. I feel that in the first bullet, "leave fully prepared for their next educational challenges" the word "academically" should be included. Although it is implied, I believe that to include the word "academically" puts us all on heigntened awareness that it is very important that each student has access to the strongest teaching possible, with extra help extended when the need is observed by the teacher(s).

    Submitted: 10/28/09

  10. I would like the word respect to be added to the last bullet. "respect the views, cultures, and values of others"
