Audit Update

Important Information to Answer Question (Needs Assessment)

Change Dates/Time for October and December Meetings

Actions Taken

Audit went very smoothly.  Zero audit adjustments were needed.  District ended a little over $2M better than anticipated (expense side).

Finance is now working on the CAFR.  Once completed this will be submitted to the Association for School Business Officials for review.  The district has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence for Financial Reporting for seven straight years.

With GASB34 a lot more complex reporting is required of the district.  Scrunity has really increased on 403B plans.

Discussed the needs assessment.  Will add "any ad hoc initiative from Project Parkway" as one of the Finance subcommittee bullet points.

Discussed whether the per pupil cost needs to be broken down more.  Also discussed the fact that the assumptions for analysis are constanly changing and will continue to change throughout this process.

Talked about prioritizing building expenses.  Aging buildings must stay as top priority.

October and December Finance Subcommittee meetings are in conflict with another district meeting.  On October 9 and December 11 the Finance Subcommittee meetings will begin at 10:30 instead of 12:00.

The main purpose of this meeting was to finalize the needs assessment.  The group also discussed some of the financial information that will be studied in the upcoming months.

The audit process was reviewed and reporting requirements were discussed.

The October and December Finance Subcommittee meeting start times have been changed from 12:00 to 10:30 to avoid conflict with another district meeting.
