Committee Members:

Agenda Items

Senate Bill 711

Reduction in Commercial Assessed Valuation

Actions Taken

Senate Bill 711 was proposed to help alleviate the variances in assessed valuation.  However, the governor vetoed the bill because of others items that had been attached to it.

The district received notice from the county assessor's office that there will be a reduction in commercial assessed valuation.  This change will cause Parkway's revenue to drop by approximately $3.5M.  Unfortunately this news was received after the district had set the tax rate for the coming year.  Parkway is working on educating the public about this change.  The Post-Dispatch will also be publishing an article on this issue as it affects all districts in the area.

Although the Finance subcommittee was not scheduled to meet on the 21st, since several of the members were there for the general Project Parkway meeting, the group met and discussed the recent change in the district's assessed valuation.

All of the Goal 3 subcommittees then met together to get an overview of what each area is going to be focusing on in the upcoming months.
