Summary

Chelsea introduced Glenn as a new member of the committee and co-facilitator of the question.

Those in attendance during the first meeting shared findings which generated a lot of discussion. 

Each member of the committee drafted a second question based on the conversation regarding the need for a diverse group of parents, students and community members.  The question agreed to is below.

  • Do district committee facilitators seek out committee members that are reflective of our diverse community?

Additional questions mentioned as the committee thought about the needs assessment are listed below.

  • Who are the facilitators of the committees?
  • How are people selected to be on the committee?
  • Do facilitators look for parents, staff, and community members?
  • How often do the committees meet?
  • Are members of major corporations involved in the committees?
  • How diverse are the committees?
  • How diverse is our school community?
  • What district committees involve parents, students, and community members?
  • How do parents, students, and community members become part of the committee?
  • What are the demographics of our community?

Charlotte Ijei shared the demographics listed below.

  • 16.9% AA
  • 11% Asian
  • 71% Caucasian
  • 2% Other
  • Less than 1% Native American
  • 2 % Latino

The committee agreed to meet at 6 p.m. on October 26.
