When Pierremont Elementary opened its doors in 1967, just beyond the kindergarten fence stood a barn and farmhouse surrounded by pastures. Expansion came rapidly as the farm was sold to make way for new homes. In 1990-91, Pierremont reached its highest enrollment with 734 students. In the spring of 1995, Pierremont said goodbye to the sixth-grade class, as it was absorbed into the middle school configuration.

Today, Pierremont educates kindergarten through fifth grade students, and the school continues its tradition of being a great place to learn and grow. Pierremont offers parents a choice of straight-aged, looping or 1-2 and 3-4 multiaged classrooms. Physical education, art, music and computer are taught on a 50 minute rotating schedule. Our library is a central focus revolving around student needs in conjunction with cooperative planning to integrate the curriculum. Extracurricular activities include extended reading, gymnastics, chess, chorus (Panther Chorale), Panther Pommies, and a variety of after school classes. Most recently, our gymnasium was enhanced with the installation of a climbing wall. In addition, we partnered with Special School District to establish three eMINTS classrooms (enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies).

Pierremont has a strong learning community with an inviting climate and school spirit. The school has an active Parent Teacher Organization and partnerships with School Initiatives for the Future, DeSmet Junior Cadets, International Internship Program (Japan), Junior Achievement, YMCA KidsNet, and More.net (Missouri Research and Education Network).
