The Alternative Discipline Center (ADC) provides an opportunity for middle and high school students suspended out of school to remain current with their school work in a quiet, supportive setting. While attending ADC, students will be working with certified teachers that are in constant communication with all 10 Parkway middle and high schools. Once a student chooses to attend ADC, his or her assigned Case Manager will request work from each of that student’s teachers. While the intent is to support students during their suspensions, the ADC staff maintains the same academic and behavioral expectations as all other Parkway schools. Students unable to agree to uphold these expectations may forfeit their opportunity to attend ADC.
Besides the daily academic support, students may also take advantage of the opportunity to reflect on the reason behind their suspensions, and build skills which will enable them to make better choices in the future.
Students suspended for 10 days or longer may be eligible to attend ADC. If a student is suspended longer than 30 days, the option to attend ADC will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
