At a Glance The Environmental Services Department (ESD) is a multi functional Department implementing many programs in environmental and safety services. These services include asbestos management, indoor air quality, pest control, hazardous materials, environmental compliance, employee safety and workers compensation, and other environmental concerns. The ESD is also responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of the district's energy conservation, waste management and recycling program, and provides oversight of the fire extinguisher inspection and replacement program. We are proud to have been recognized both nationally and internationally for our efforts in recycling and recovery. The Facilities Department is comprised of four work units: Planning and Engineering, Building Services, Construction and Maintenance. Approximately 300 employees make up the Facilities team which handles all of the engineering, custodial, grounds, maintenance and new construction needs of the district. Contact information, organizational charts, maps and building histories can be accessed on this site. With over 3.5 million square feet of building space under roof...we delight in the fact that district facilities are safe, sound and ready for students! As you browse our site, you will find a listing of monthly menus, information about our computerized point of sale system, free and reduced meal benefits, nutrition information, introductions to the food services staff at your school, employment opportunities and much more. One thing for sure, we're all about providing students with a healthy, appealing and nutritious breakfast or lunch! The Department of Safety and Security is designated a "Law Enforcement Unit" by the Board of Education. It handles all criminal and non-criminal complaints and investigations, conducts safety audits of schools and buildings and provides teacher and support staff crisis training. Comprised of commissioned police officers under contract at all high and middle schools, and licensed security officers who monitor security systems and patrol the district for hazards, the department operates 24/7 every day of the year. The Transportation Department provides home-to-school and school-to-home transportation for resident students. It also provides service for field trips, athletic trips, after school activity and athletic runs, transportation to 6th grade camp and transportation for resident students enrolled in the district's summer school program. In addition, the department maintains all district vehicles including buses, trucks, vans, and cars. We are very proud to have received the following state acknowledgments: the State Highway Patrol's Excellent Fleet Award (10 consecutive years) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Exemplary Fleet Award (16 consecutive years) The Warehouse Department is comprised of 21 employees that provide a wide variety of services. We operate a fully functional post office that receives and distributes the majority of interoffice and U.S. Mail for the district. Our print shop is utilized by schools and support departments as well as some outside organizations. The storeroom portion of the warehouse works closely with the facilities department by ordering, stocking and distributing parts for all maintenance, grounds, and custodial departments. All of the supplies that keep our schools and other facilities operating, as well as daily food supplies, are received and distributed by warehouse personnel. Finally, we operate a surplus department that stores excess furniture items from any of our 33 buildings and redistributes them on an as-needed basis. |
