Each year we develop and implement a school Improvement plan designed to help us be more effectvie as a school. At the September PTO meeting, a description of the school improvement planning process was given along with some general data from our school's achievement scores. The information given to parents at the PTO meeting is in the PowerPoint below. While this information is not all encompassing, it does give a general idea of what was discussed that evening. If you have any questions about the PowerPoint, I ask that you please call or email Mr. Shirley or Mr. Helton.
Our plan will go through many phases of development. The first draft of the plan was started by staff members. Once the draft was created, our Principal's Advisory Board worked to clean it up and organize it. We are now taking the plan to the different committees at Oak Brook. Those staff committees include: Principal's Advisory Board, Progress Monitoring and Intervention, Diversity in Action and School Climate Committee. Eac committee will offer feedback in their areas of focus.
For our plan to be effective, we must include input from as many members of our community as possible. On Wednesday, Sepember 28, we have a Principal's Coffee planned where we will present our draft of the School Improvement Plan to parents and any community members who attend. I realize that not everyone is able to attend a meeting during the day. Because of this, we have created this avenue for parents to give us feedback. I ask that you look through our drafts of the plan and offer feedback. A few types of feedback are requested to help make this plan effective. First, we would like you to comment on what you see in the plan. Second, we ask you to comment about what you don't see in the plan that you think would work. We also ask that you make comments about what you can do as parents so we can include numerous strategies that take advantage of a strong home/school connection.
As the plan goes through the draft process, I will post drafts to the website
We ask that feedback be left for us through the google document at the following link. Thank you for taking time to help us with this process.
