Student-Led Conferences at NEMS |
Conferences at Northeast Middle School are held twice each year and are student led. Our next conferences are scheduled for February 23rd, 2012. We are proud that our students are able to take the lead during their conferences. When you arrive at the conference, be prepared to listen primarily to your child as he or she shares reflections on the trimester's learning.
Around conference time, your child will bring home a letter and form that you will use to schedule your conference. When you arrrive at the conference, you will be directed to an area where your child can review his or her portfolio with you. During the conference your child will act as the host and conference leader. Your child will discuss his or her reflections about the artifacts contained in the portfolio and about the trimester's learning in general. At the end of each conference, you and your child will create goals that will help direct and focus your child's learning.
Teachers at Northeast Middle School work very hard to ensure that students are able to run their conferences well. On conference night they will act as conference facilitators, allowing your child to take the lead and share his or her learning with you. Click here for more on Student-Led Conference roles.
On behalf of your child, please be prepared to listen and to discuss the reflections, goals, and portfolio artifacts with him or her. If you require more information, assistance, or time from one of your child's teachers, please contact the teacher and schedule a time other than on Student-Led Conference Night.
