Glancing out the window
I caught the view from yesterday
The glass fogged since then
I saw only what remained... in my mind
I gave my all to squint and focus
But the past was too far gone
Now I can only see tomorrow
And for will, I am its pawn
Lies did rise within my mind
Details faded in recounting the past
The future's arriving, but not on time
Let's make the present last
From where I stand
As a changed old man
The view that I see
Is not what it used to be.
The silence in my head
Replaces words instead
And in this peace
I see how it used to be
I delve further in my plight
And as the hours pass
I remember less of yesternight
And I'm no longer relaxed
My memories are overcome
By the thoughts for which I long
I cannot slip back to what's been done
I cannot forget what I've seen wronged
