Tuesday, a new day
Inauguration 2009
The cold winter wind chills his face
Falsh bulbs flicker from empty space
Through the entry way he peaks
A sea of people wait for him to speak
Red, white, and blue decorate
He closes his eyes to meditate
One step at a time, left over right,
The president elect comes into sight.
A loud but soothing applause occurs,
Chanting, “Obama” and many other words.
A nervous soul clears his throat
And loosens the collar of his coat
Promising ideas are addressed to the crowd
Smiling faces and happiness all around
Ending with a wave he steps away,
The country embraces the start of a new day.
