Welcome to my corner of the web!
I've been teaching Social Studies at North High since the 2000-2001 school year. I began working at North in the Fall of 2000 as a permanent sub, and spent most of my time in a Social Studies classroom filling in for a good friend who was diagnosed with cancer. At the end of the '00-'01 school year, I was hired full time at North and began teaching Psychology and Ecology, which I have done for my entire career. I've also taught 9th Grade American History, and Government. I created the AP Psychology course at North High and have taught that since the 2006-'07 school year.
Outside of the classroom, I also sponsor Student Council, and serve as the Department Leader for Social Studies. I have Masters' Degrees in School Leadership, Social Science, and have earned my principal's certificate from the State of Missouri. I am a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, and I also enjoy following the Rams and Blues as well. I really like a great comedy film, with my all-time favorite being "What about Bob?" I also like TV Shows like "The Office," "GLEE," "CSI," and "Law and Order."
I was born and raised in South St. Louis County and currently reside in Oakville. My first child, Charlotte Marie McKitrick, was born on June 9, 2011! My wife "retired" from her job as a FACS teacher at Oakville High School to be a stay-at-home mom for Charlotte. She also has an embriodery business called "Put a Name on it," which she works on when I am not at school. We have two awesome dogs, Sebastian (a Lhasa Apso) and Daphne (a Shih-Tsu/American Eskimo Mix).
