Student Government - Save the World Week
"SAVE THE WORLD WEEK"
Dear North High Parents,
One of the things that Student Government wanted to focus on this year was improving their commitment to community service. A spotlight to this commitment was during our "Save the World Week" which was from December 5-9. Our goal was to get the whole North Community involved in our activities, which included a hat day, toy drive, and fundraiser for Joplin, MO.
Highlights of these activities are as follows:
Hat Day -Tuesday, December 6.
The charity we donated to was "Friends of Kids with Cancer." Information on this charity can be found by clicking this link: http://www.friendsofkids.com/
Students could wear a hat during school hours in exchange for a $1 donation to "Friends of Kids with Cancer." Students received a large hat day sticker that they wore on December 6 indicating they made this donation.
Toy Drive
Donations were made from December 5-9.
In addition, on Friday, December 9, North High hosted a Girls Basketball game (vs. Ladue) and a Wrestling Match (vs. Rockwood Summit). Anyone who donated a toy at the gate for these contests received a coupon for a free item in our concession stand that evening.
Candy Canes for Joplin
Student Government had a collection to benefit students in Joplin, MO as they continue to recover from the tornado this past May. Anyone who donated $1 received a candy cane sticker that they hung in the commons indicating they donated to Joplin. (Similar to the "Children’s Miracle Network" charity drives in grocery stores and restaurants.)
Also note:
Holiday Light Recycling Drive
During December and January, Parkway is participating in a Holiday Light Recycling Drive. A bin is located in the commons. See the attached flyer for additional information.
Sincerely,
Jenny Marquart, North High Principal
