Three Parkway students receive State Citizenship Award

Three Parkway students are among 15 students in the Missouri to receive the 2012 Outstanding Achievement in Citizenship Award.

This award has been presented annually since 1990. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education conducts the program with assistance and financial support from the Missouri Bar. Honorees are recognized during a luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion in Jefferson City.  Each student receives a plaque and a $50 savings bond.

The 2012 recipients are:

  • Jonathan Rembold, Central High (left)
  • Anthony Henderson, North High (center)
  • Si Qi (Rocky) Leng, South High (right)

Every public high school in the state is eligible to nominate one senior for the citizenship award. Students are selected on the basis of their academic achievement in civics and government courses, performance in civics and government-related extracurricular activities, and exemplary community service. Students also must submit an essay about the importance of citizenship.
