The following covers procedures related to Broken Glass.

Broken Glass

Broken glass should be picked up or covered over to prevent people from cutting themselves. If picked up, have the custodian run a vacuum over the area immediately following the glass pick up.

If window, door, borrow lite, or skylite glass is broken in your building, then use the following procedures:

» Evacuate and isolate the area.
» Follow the Emergency Work Request procedures.

Until district personnel can respond, the safest course of action is to move students and staff away from the broken glass and glass frame. In addition, take measures to isolate the affected area by posting monitors, locking doors, etc. until the broken glass can be picked up and the remaining glass can be removed from the frame.
