Two Parkway students named National Achievement semifinalists

Two Parkway students were named National Merit Scholarship Achievement Scholarship semifinalists.  The students are among 1,600 black American high school seniors who will compete for Achievement scholarship awards totaling more than $2.4 million.

The semifinalists were selected based on their preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) scores.

The Achievement semifinalists and their high schools are:

Central High School
Ahmed Eltahir

North High School
Paa Imbeah

To advance to the finalist level in the competition, semifinalists must have a record of high academic performance throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that confirm the SAT/NMSQT performance.  In addition, the semifinalist and a high school official must complete a detailed scholarship application in which they provide information about the student’s participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, and educational goals.
