Parkway Drama Students Excel at Competition

Fifty-five students from Parkway Central, South, North and West High Schools recently participated in the Missouri State Thespian Conference and many came away from the event with honors and awards. Students from across the state competed in scholarship auditions at the conference, which took place at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. Parkway students won two of the eight statewide scholarships. Central High senior Margaret Christie of Chesterfield won a $1000 scholarship in Theater Education and West High senior Alice Stanley of St. Louis County won a $1000 scholarship in Performance. Also at the conference, students auditioned for next year's all-state production. Two Parkway South High students were chosen for the production, as junior Lisa Fahey of Manchester was named stage manager and sophomore Chris Porcelli of Manchester was named pianist. The conference featured several performances, including Parkway South High's production of "The Complete History of America." In addition, Parkway South High drama teacher Jennifer Forrest-James was elected to the board of directors of the Missouri State Thespians. Nicole Voss, Parkway Central High drama teacher, completed a six-year stint on the board and was the state conference chair for 2006.
