South High Teacher Earns National Board Certification

Dr. Ron Banfield South High assistant principal; Debbie Gremmelsbacher, NBCT; and Brandon Jamieson, NBCT, CSP
Debbie Gremmelsbacher, from South High, recently earned National Board Certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).  National Board Certification measures a teacher's practice against the high and rigorous NBPTS standards.

Gremmelsbacher teaches science at South High, and joins a handful of Parkway teachers to achieve this certification.  Less than 400 teachers in the state of Missouri have achieved National Board Certification.

Being a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) signifies that Gremmelsbacher is nationally regarded as an accomplished teacher.  The rigorous process carries educators through a dynamic learning experience that is transforming. NBCT’s make up less than 2% of the nation’s educators.

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards improves teaching and student learning.  National Board Certified Teachers are highly accomplished educators who meet high and rigorous standards.  Like board-certified doctors and accountants, teachers who achieve National Board Certification have met rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment and peer review.  NBPTS offers 25 certificates that cover a variety of subject areas and student developmental levels.
