Two Parkway Students Selected as Semifinalists in Presidential Scholars Program

    Morgan Tichy      William Sun

Two Parkway seniors were selected as semifinalists in Presidential Scholars Program. The students are William Sun from Central High School, and Morgan Tichy from West High School.  Only twelve Missouri students were selected as semifinalists in the prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, the U.S. Department of Education announced earlier this month.

Established by Executive Order in 1964, the Presidential Scholars Program recognizes some of America’s most outstanding graduating seniors.  About 550 students are selected nationally as semifinalists. Ultimately, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars chooses up to 121 Academic Scholars (two from each state and other jurisdictions) and up to 20 Arts Scholars.

The Presidential Scholars receive an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in June to meet with government officials, educators, authors, musicians, scientists and other accomplished people.
