Parkway awarded $1.5 million for Scientists in Residence Grant

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education recently announced Parkway has been selected to receive a $1.5 million Mathematics and Science Partnership competitive grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant is for $500,000 each year for three years to provide a Scientists in Residence (SIR) program, similar to Parkway's Mathematicians in Residence program.

SIR is an intensive professional development program, supported by coaching and leadership guidance, for 80 third- through fifth-grade teachers of science. Participating teachers will apply their learning in classroom settings with 120 third- through fifth-grade aspiring scientists from participating districts at a Summer Academy.

Partners with Parkway in the grant program are St. Louis Public Schools, Maryville University, St. Louis Archdiocese Office of Catholic Education and Lutheran Elementary School Association.
