Parkway NEA President Honored by St. Louis American Foundation

Jo Wanda Bozeman, president of the Parkway National Educators Association (PNEA), has been awarded the 2006 Excellence in Education award by the St. Louis American Foundation. She will be honored at the foundations annual awards banquet on Friday, September 15. The excellence in education award recognizes educators who make a significant contribution to improve educational outcomes for young African Americans. Bozeman was chosen for the leadership she provides to the students, faculty and staff and the entire Parkway community. Bozeman, a third generation educator, is beginning her second year of a two-year term as president of the PNEA. Prior to that, she served as vice president of the PNEA for four years and was a sixth grade teacher at Southwest Middle. Before that, she taught at Highcroft Ridge and Henry Elementary. Bozemans grandfather was a career educator for 51 years. Her father is a retired teacher and principal and her late mother was also a teacher. My family celebrates its 100th year in public education this year, says Bozeman. That makes this award even more special to me.
