Parkway South High Hosts Naturalization Ceremony

flagNearly 65 immigrants were sworn in as United States citizens by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at Parkway South High School in Manchester on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.

Hundreds of students filled the school's gym bleachers to watch the ceremony.  Dudley McCarter, attorney and former Parkway board member, gave the keynote address. This was the third year in a row that South High, home of the Patriots, hosted the ceremony. Students also took part in welcoming the new citizens.

  • The South High orchestra played the National Anthem and "God Bless America."
  • The Key Club gave American Flags to new citizens.
  • Students from cooking classes and the school's cooking club provided a dessert buffet for new citizens and their guests.
  • The sociology class acted as host and hostesses for all the special guests.
  • The book club gave patriotic-themed bookmarks to each citizen.
