The Parkway School District announced a new scholarship for student athletes wanting to attend the University of Missouri, Columbia.  The "Aaron O'Neal Memorial Student Athlete Scholarship" was created in memory of the Mizzou and Parkway North High School football player.

At a recent Board of Education meeting, Parkway's director of athletics and activities, Mike Gohn; North High coach, Bob Bunton; along with the University of Missouri’s Gary Pinkel, head coach; Cornell Ford, assistant coach; and several of Aaron’s former teammates presented the scholarship details.  Lonnie O'Neal, Aaron's father, was a special guest at the presentation.

The scholarship will be awarded to a Parkway student athlete with a grade point average of  3.0 or higher and of outstanding character, who has demonstrated involvement in community service.

O’Neal was a member of the University of Missouri Football Tigers who died July 15, 2005 following a voluntary summer workout.  He led by example and was a “silent” leader.  He had exceptional skills working with children and he treated all persons with respect, dignity and consideration.
