Prescription drug plan changes

Parkway has been notified that Walgreens will stop participating as a provider in Parkway's pharmacy network starting January 1, 2012. Walgreens is proposing to raise the cost of prescriptions, which can adversely affect future premiums.

Parkway and Express Scripts – the company selected to manage prescription-drug benefits – are committed to keeping employees' prescription drugs affordable and accessible. Express Scripts will continue to ensure convenient access and customer care.

On average, there is another network pharmacy within one-half mile of a Walgreens pharmacy. To avoid having to change pharmacies in 2012, employees can move their prescriptions to one of these pharmacies now.

There are several alternatives to Walgreens, including Costco, CVS, Dierbergs, Sams, Schnucks, Shop ‘n Save, Target and Walmart, to name just a few.

Prescriptions can be transferred to a new pharmacy by doing one of the following:

  • Take your prescription bottle to the new pharmacy; they will contact your old pharmacy to transfer your prescription.
  • Call your new pharmacy and ask them to contact your old pharmacy.
  • Ask your doctor to call your new pharmacy with your prescription information.
  • Visit www.StartHomeDelivery.com to begin receiving up to a 90-day supply of your maintenance medications at home.

Employees can also find a complete list of local participating pharmacies at www.express-scripts.com. Click on 'Find a Pharmacy'. If you have any questions, please visit express-scripts.com or call 877.508.1379.

Please note: Any existing home delivery prescriptions from the Express Scripts Pharmacy are not affected by this change.
