Will the Four Snow Days Extend the Last Day of School?

With the four recent snow days, many have asked whether the last day of school will change this year. The answer is “no” for now.

The Parkway calendar, posted at http://www.pkwy.k12.mo.us/calendar/districtCalendar0708.pdf,   has three snow days already built into it, as well as additional inclement weather make-up days that could be taken prior to the end of the school year.  Due to yesterday’s snow day (the fourth this year), Parkway has designated Friday, April 25 as an inclement weather make-up day. That Friday was originally set aside as a professional development day for teachers and support staff.  So while students will now be required to come to school on April 25, the last day of school has not changed and is still tentatively set for Friday, May 23.

If school is called off again, however, additional adjustments to the calendar will be required, either through another make-up day or an extension to the last day of school.  A final decision on the last day of school will be made no later than May 1.  This information will be distributed to parents and posted on the Parkway Web site.  For more information, please contact Parkway’s Public Affairs Department at (314) 415-8077.
