North High Hosts Youth and Family Track Meet Series

Parkway North High School is hosting a youth and family track meet series.  On June 10 more than 100 students and their parents enjoyed the first session of the annual GO! St. Louis Youth and Family Track Series.  The enthusiastic participants were introduced to the sport of track & field by way of the some of the area’s top track coaches and members of the GO! staff.  Events included a 40 meter dash, 400 meter run, standing long jump and a shuttle relay.  The six-week series includes a different set of events each week.  The Track Series is an informal, non-competitive program that encourages parents and children to get fit together.
In an on-going effort to create programs and events that inspire the St. Louis region to get fit, GO! St. Louis introduced the first annual Youth & Family Track Meet Series.  The track series is a non-competitive six-week program for students, K-8 and their family members.  The cost is $12 for the complete six-week series, and event participants receive a special event shirt and refreshments.
Parents and family members are encouraged to sign-up and compete with other adults in the events or family members may choose to walk the track as their children participate.  Track events will be timed and measured, but results are for individual use only.
The additional track series events are scheduled for June 17, 24 and July 1, 8, 15. Registration begins at 5:30 pm and the event starts at 6:00 pm.  Participants may register online at www.gostlouis.org or sign up on the individual event evenings at Parkway North High School.
The Youth & Family Track Meet Series was created to help inspire families to find new and interesting ways to make fitness part of their lives, while spending quality time together.
