State Releasing Annual NCLB Progress Reports: Parkway Among Top 10
Story Date: July 31, 2008
On August 1, state education officials are releasing adequate yearly progress (AYP) results for all Missouri schools, based primarily on a state test called the MAP. AYP is part of a federal law called No Child Left Behind (NCLB). This year’s results are based on preliminary 2008 test scores from Missouri’s MAP tests in math and communication arts.
You may read in news reports that Parkway’s test scores were among the top 10 in the region. However, Parkway and most area school districts did not make AYP based largely on individual subgroups’ performance on the tests. Districts are required by law to notify parents about these results, so letters are being mailed to all Parkway families the week of August 4. Parkway continues to be Accredited with Distinction by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and has been recognized for seven consecutive years for "Distinction in Performance" by the state.
