South High students make Monday 'A DAY ON'

On Monday, January 18, students from a U.S. government class at South High School are making the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday a day of service rather than a day off.

Students will be at Wal-Mart at Highway 141 and Manchester Road from 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. collecting items needed by the USO of Missouri for soldiers and their families; they are also asking shoppers to write thank you notes to the troops.  The USO is in need of individually packaged snack items, travel size personal hygiene items, and other supplies to operate their facilities.  Click here to view their wish list.

Each year, the Corporation for National and Community Service honors Dr. King’s legacy by asking Americans to make the King Holiday a national day of service.

"Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve." - The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
