Northeast Middle School Resource Officer Named 'School Resource Officer of the Year'

Sarah Bodi, the school resource officer (SRO) at Northeast Middle School, was recently awarded the School Resource Officer of the Year Award from the Association of School Resource Officers (MASRO).  Officer Bodi received the award in recognition of her service and dedication to the school resource officer program and the community at large.
Bodi has been a member of the Creve Coeur Police Department since 2000 and she was assigned as the Parkway Northeast Middle School SRO in May 2005.  Some of Officer Bodi’s accomplishments include establishing Emergency Operation Plans for all schools within the city; providing direction with the Internet-based SafePlans.net - also an emergency operations initiative; coordinating tactical response training between the police and local schools – utilizing school staff and students as role players; implementing a “Teen Academy” program for students; and presenting training on a variety of other contemporary topics to students, parents and teachers. In 2007, Officer Bodi was recognized for conducting a “child find” program, known as Code Adam, for the Powder Valley Conservation Center located in Kirkwood. Officer Bodi is a member of the National Association of School Resource Officers and she recently served as the Missouri association’s St. Louis regional representative. 
The School Resource Officer Program is a collaborative effort by certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and the community to offer law related educational programs in the schools in an effort to reduce crime, drug abuse, violence, and provide a safe school environment.
