Parkway Central High Wins First Place at the Missouri Personal Finance Challenge!

Parkway Central High School won first place at the State Missouri Personal Finance Challenge! Central High was represented by Kara Bradley, Joy He, Brad Schlosser and Charlie Yuan. The students qualified for the regional competition after taking an online test. At the regional competition, Central High competed against nine schools and 19 teams from the St. Louis area. The teams participated in events such as Spending and Credit, Savings, Investing, Income and Money Management. The Central High team placed first in the regional contest, qualifying them for the state competition. At the state competition, Central High placed first over seven teams from across the state. 
The competition is sponsored by the Federal Reserve. Each student received a $500 savings bond at the regional competition and a $1000 Savings bond at the state competition. 
The Missouri Personal Finance Challenge is a statewide competition for grades 9-12. The purpose of the Missouri Personal Finance Challenge is to honor teachers and students in grades 9-12 who have demonstrated excellence in mastery of the curricular materials that are part of the new required Personal Finance Course in all Missouri high schools. The intent is to encourage high standards for achievement in these classes and to provide support and encouragement to school systems, teachers and students for their accomplishments.
