Parkway Student Wins $1,000 Scholarship: Students Recognized at Benjamin Banneker Student Awards Ceremony

Forty-one Parkway African American students were recognized at the Benjamin Banneker Student Awards Ceremony on Friday April 28 for excellence in mathematics. At the ceremony, West High senior Dorothy Addae's name was pulled in a drawing to win a $1,000 scholarship from McDougal Littell to apply toward her college expenses. Dorothy has been accepted at Penn State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. The Benjamin Banneker Association is a national non-profit organization dedicated to mathematics education advocacy, establishing a presence for leadership, and professional development to support teachers in leveling the playing field for mathematics learning of the highest quality for African-American students.
