Summer Schedule for High School Students Changes

Storms Caused All Parkway Schools to Close Today Due to Power Outages (Chesterfield, Mo.) – Beginning Thursday, July 8, the summer schedule for Parkway high school students will change to make up for lost instructional time from today's school closings. The new high school start time will be 7:20 a.m. and the end time will be 1:07 p.m. starting Thursday, July 8 through Friday, July 16, when the summer school session ends for high school students. The summer schedule for elementary and middle school students will remain unchanged. "By adding extra time to the beginning and ending of each high school day, we will avoid having to extend the duration of the summer school session beyond July 16," said Dr. Robert Malito, superintendent of schools. "This plan will cause the least disruption to our students and their families, since many of them make vacation and work plans based upon the summer school dates." More than 6,000 students are enrolled in Parkway's summer school program, which is offered at 14 of Parkway's 28 schools this year. Seven of the 14 schools offering summer school were without electricity, phone or data service today due to the storms.
