Parkway announces new administrators, principals and assistant principals

The Parkway School District is pleased to announce that the following new administrators, principals, assistant principals and administrative interns have been approved by the Parkway Board of Education.  All of the positions are effective July 1, 2009.

Administrators

Nathan L. Tyson, Ed.D.
Nathan Tyson, Ed.D. has been appointed coordinator of program evaluation.  Tyson served as a middle school principal in the Wentzville School District, assistant principal in the Jefferson City Public Schools and an administrative intern in the Francis Howell School District.  Tyson was a classroom teacher for five years prior to his administrative positions.

Tyson received a B.A. degree in secondary education and history from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree of education in educational administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  He received a doctor of education degree in educational leadership from St. Louis University.


Julie Harrison
Julie Harrison has been named coordinator of guidance and counseling.  Harrison has served as a counselor and lead teacher at Parkway’s River Bend Elementary School since 2007.  Prior to this position, Harrison was a counselor in an elementary school in Carrollton, Ky.  She also served as an elementary, middle school and high school counseling intern.

Harrison received her B.A. in English and psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She received her M.F.A. in English and a master’s degree in professional school counseling from Minnesota State University.


Principals

Nicole Evans
Nicole Evans has been approved as the new principal of Craig Elementary School.  Evans was a certified administrative assistant at Parkway’s Hanna Woods Elementary School from 2005 to 2009.  Prior to this position, she served as an administrative intern and teacher at Hanna Woods.

Evans received a B.S. in education from Harris-Stowe State College and a master’s degree in educational administration from Lindenwood University.  Evans is pursuing an Ed.D. at Maryville University.

Evans replaces Michelle Jones who retired.


Mike Schmerold
Mike Schmerold has been named the principal of Mason Ridge Elementary School.  Schmerold worked in the Wentzville School District as an early childhood principal, elementary principal and assistant principal.  Prior to his administrative duties, he taught for seven years.

Schmerold received his B.S. in early childhood education from Southeast Missouri State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  He also received a specialist in educational administration degree from Lindenwood University.

Schmerold replaces Barbara Mueller who retired.


Assistant Principals

Kevin Helton
Kevin Helton has been named assistant principal at Oak Brook Elementary.  Helton has been with the Rockwood School District for the last eight years.  He served as an administrative intern and a teacher.

Helton received a B.S. in elementary education from Langston University in Langston, Okla. He received a master’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational administration from Southwest Baptist University.


James Gerker
Jim Gerker has been chosen as assistant principal at South High School.  Gerker comes from Chaminade College Preparatory School where he worked since 1992 as principal, associate principal and teacher.

Gerker received a B.S. in education from the University of Dayton and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.


Bill Senti
Bill Senti has been named assistant principal at Northeast Middle School.  Senti served as administrative intern at Parkway West Middle for the 2008-2009 school year.  Prior to that position, he was a teacher in the Rockwood School District.

Senti received a B.F.A. in graphic design from Maryville University, and received a master’s degree in educational administration Lindenwood University.


Administrative Interns

Lisa Thompson
Lisa Thompson has been approved as administrative intern at Hanna Woods Elementary School.  Thompson served as Parkway’s staff development facilitator for diversity, coordinator of transfer programs and special projects and teacher at Parkway’s Carman Trails Elementary.

Thompson received her B.S. in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Phoenix.


Jason Adams
Jason Adams has been named administrative intern at Ross Elementary School.  Adams has been an administrative intern and teacher in the Kirkwood School District.

Adams received a B.A. in elementary education a master’s in educational administration from Maryville University and will receive a master’s in elementary education from Maryville University in 2009.


Robert Villigram
Robert Villigram has been named administrative intern at Wren Hollow Elementary School.  Villigram has been a science teacher at Parkway South High School since 2001.

Villigram received a B.S. in education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and his master’s in educational administration from Southwest Baptist University.


Eric Rowe
Eric Rowe has been named administrative intern at West Middle School.  Rowe taught world history at Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MICDS).

Prior to that position, he taught literature and social studies at Loyola Academy.

Rowe received his B.A. in educational studies from Brown University in Providence, R.I, and a master’s in secondary education and a master’s in educational administration from Lindenwood University.
