South High students raise $5,000 to send WWII veterans to Washington, D.C.

Students at South High, home of the Patriots, raised $5,000 to send World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the WWII War Memorial.  The $5,000 was donated to the St. Louis Honor Flight Network program.
On Feb. 24 the students presented a check to the St. Louis Honor Flight board and 91-year-old WWII veteren, Wayne Mueller.  In addition to raising money, the students wrote letters for the vets to read on their flight to D.C.
Honor Flight:  Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.  Visit the Honor Flight Web site for more information.
