1.  Regions of the United States

  • GeoNet:  From Houghton Mifflin, this game tests students' understanding of regional differences within the United States.

  • GeoSpy:  From National Geographic Kids, this includes a series of "spy-themed" geography games for kids.

  • Landform Regions:  From Education Place, this interactive map introduces students to various landform regions of the United States.

  • Outline Maps:  From Education Place, this site includes links to printable outline maps of the regions of the United States.

  • USA Map GamesFrom Sheppard Software, this site includes many interactive games for USA geography.  The "Landscapes" games are targeted specifically toward the regions of the country.

  • U.S. National Parks:  From National Geographic, this site includes information and photo galleries from our national parks that help to illustrate the regional differences of our country.

2.  Show Me Missouri:  Geography

  • Finding Missouri - Our History & Heritage:  From DESE, this site contains videos and links to online resources for 19 different units dealing with Missouri history and geography.  Unit 2, The Lay of the Land, focuses on Missouri geography.

  • Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites:  From the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, "this page has a map of Missouri’s regions with links to state parks and historic sites. Notice that this map divides up the state in a different manner than the Division of Tourism does."

  • Visual Journey:  From Bill Grant Photography, this site includes "stock photographs of Missouri. These are copyrighted images, but the photographer’s e-mail address is included."  The photographs illustrate the variations in Missouri geography and how humans have impacted/developed various regions of the state.

  • Famous Missourians:  From DESE, this site includes links to projects and resources dealing with famous Missourians from this particular time period.

  • Finding Missouri - Our History & Heritage:  From DESE, this site contains videos and links to online resources for 19 different units dealing with Missouri history and geography.  Units 3-5, The Ancient Ones, A Meeting of Cultures, and Gateway West, focus on the early settlement of the state.

  • Lewis & Clark:  From DESE, this site includes links to projects and resources for studying and teaching about the expedition of Lewis & Clark.

  • The Civil War in Missouri:  From Missouri's Civil War Heritage Foundation, this site provides background information for the teaching of significant figures,battles, and "fascinating events" of the Civil War in Missouri.

8.  MO Money - Missouri's Economy Today

  • Decision Making:  From EconEdLink, this is a list of lesson plans and resources that deal with the economic concept of decision making.  Each lesson includes suggestions for teaching as well as multiple resources to use in class.

  • Department of Economic Data:  From the Missouri DED, this site is a good resource for key economic statistics for our state.

  • The Mint:  From Northwestern Mutual Financial, this site includes games and activities designed to help students better understand the concepts of earning, saving, spending, and giving.

  • U.S. Mint for Kids:  From the United States Mint, this site includes games and activities for teaching students about money.
