What to Do if One of Your Children is Sick

  • Keep your child home from school (normally 3 to 5 days, but maybe more).
  • Report the illness to your school’s office.
  • Avoid letting your child have contact with other people.
  • Get rest.
  • Get plenty of fluids.
  • Take fever reducers.
  • Take Tamiflu or Relenza within the first 48 hours (if prescribed by your physician)
  • Keep your child home from school until he/she is fever-free for 24 hours, without the aid of fever reducing medication.

If you are unsure whether to keep your child home from school, please refer to this flyer from the St. Louis County Health Department.
