The Parkway School District provides a safe environment for our students and staff to learn and to work. In providing that safe environment, the Environmental Service Department is tasked with helping to maintain good indoor air quality (IAQ) and to investigate potential problems. The Environmental Protection Agency’s Indoor Air Quality Tools For Schools Program is used to conduct investigations into potential IAQ concerns within the district. Many people when they think of IAQ think only of indoor mold problems. Mold is only one aspect of indoor air quality. Many things can affect indoor air, from outdoor contaminants brought into the indoors through the ventilation system to materials or operations inside a building such as paints, solvents and cleaners that are used, construction activities, and science or art projects. The following are links to information on particular indoor air quality issues and what you can look for in your own home or business.
