World History’s Enduring Understanding

Unit #1    Introduction to History    - Approx. 15 days

This introductory unit is designed to answer the question, "What is history?” Topics to be explored include tools used by historians to learn about the past and the difference between Historical Events and Historical Accounts. Students will use these tools to examine and compare the Mayan, Incan, and Aztec cultures.

Unit #2  Ancient River Valleys      - Approx. 45 days

Students will explore the origins, cultures, and development of civilizations in the river valley civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China. They will also explore the impact of these civilizations on neighboring societies and on our world today.
