Shenandoah Valley Students Spread Warmth with Project Linus

Third-grade students at Parkway’s Shenandoah Valley Elementary School recently made 34 fleece blankets as a contribution to Project Linus. Project Linus provides blankets to children who are in the hospital for long periods of time.
The students earned money to purchase the fleece by volunteering for extra chores at home. In addition to making the blankets, students wrote a short essay about the history of the organization, the steps they took to make the blankets, and how working on the project made them feel.
"It was fun making blankets, but not as fun as making them for a sick child. It was a good thing to warm a child's life,"  wrote one student in his essay last year. Organized by teacher Jill Strong, this is the second year Shenandoah Valley has participated in Project Linus.
