Parents Report to Board on Town Hall Meetings

On April 23, four parents presented a preliminary report to the Parkway Board of Education to summarize the feedback gathered at recent Town Hall meetings regarding a potential no-tax-rate-increase bond issue. Presenters were: Beth Feldman (Central area), Kathy Saitz (South area), Jane Thal (North area) and Ed Zumwinkel (West area).

Their presentation has been posted at http://www.pkwy.k12.mo.us/facStudies/revApril%2023.pdf.

After the report, the board directed Superintendent Malito to develop a more detailed (school-by-school) list of possible projects that could be included in a no-tax-rate increase bond issue. That list will be circulated among schools and parents for feedback in the next few weeks. It will also be posted on the Web site, where comments can be submitted. The five main areas of need discussed were:

1. Maintenance and repairs

2. Technology and related classroom equipment

3. Elementary classroom walls

4. Safety, health and security

5. High school science labs

A final report with recommendations will be presented to the Parkway Board of Education at its May 28 meeting, which will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Central Middle School.
