Information about November Ballot Issue

The Parkway Board of Education unanimously approved a recommendation to place a 37-cent tax increase referendum on the November 7 ballot. The measure would allow the district to lower class sizes, improve academic achievement and update textbooks, technology and classroom equipment. Since residential taxes are calculated on 19 percent of a home's assessed value (not the market value), the cost of the tax rate increase to the owner of a home valued at $200,000 would be $140.60 per year - about $12 a month.
